Hello， crafty friends! Today I am sharing a few tips and ideas on how to create your own personalized stationary items. I know we just came through Christmas， where handmade cards are a big thing， but did you know that Valentine’；s Day is the second biggest holiday that people give and receive cards？ I decided to get a head start on some romantic style paper items for the holiday of love. The Bohemian Romance papers are a perfect choice if you are going for a softer， romantic feel. I love the light colors and the rich feel of these textured papers! I decided to let the papers be the focal point and then add on some simple embellishments to make this card and bookmark set a personalized pair.

First， I die cut the flap for the front of my card by running some parchment cardstock through my Sizzix with my die. This die cuts a flap like you see in the photo- perfect for an envelope flap OR you can cut two and have a gate-opening card. I decided here to make it look like my card is an envelope. The flap itself does not really open. The whole front of this card is adhered to a card base of white cardstock， so it completely opens up so you can write a personalized note inside. I love the look of pretty， handcrafted stationary but didn’；t want the recipient to have to break the lovely wax seal to open the cardchristmas gifts for dad， so I came up with an “；enFAUXlope”； card!
I then adhered my die cut envelope flap onto a piece of the Bohemian Romance paper， cut down to size. Since this is a custom card， I didn’；t use any standard card sizes here. The card itself ended up being about 4.5″；x6.5″；， which fits into this 5″；x7″； envelope perfectly! After the die cut flap was adhered， I tied some Jute Cord around the card， and then tied it into a bow before adhering the papers onto my White Cardstock card base.
Next， I decided to add a pretty wax seal to my card front. I used some sealing wax along with a little heart wax stamp to create the seal. I did this on my heat-resistant craft mat， and then after the wax was cooled I was able to easily pick it up and add it to my card with some adhesive. By not adding the wax directly onto my card， I didn’；t have to worry about messing up my whole project if I made a mistake! I also tucked a few pieces of fresh greenery behind the seal， adding a unique， natural look to the card.
I wanted to make this card feel like more of a stationary set， so I decided to make a quick， easy bookmark to go along with it. I cut a strip of the same White Cardstock that I used for the card， and then a piece of my parchment cardstock that fits perfectly on top. I embossed some French script onto the parchment with a rubber background stamp I have with gold embossing powder. The gold matches the wax seal and adds a little shine to this project! After my embossing was finished， I adhered the parchment to the cardstock， and punched a hole in the top to tie on some of the Jute Cord. I also fussy cut a few flowers from the Bohemian Romance papers to add to the front of the bookmark. Also， since I had a few stray drips of wax from when I created my seal， I just added them to the centers of the flowers on the bookmark， tying the two paper items together.
As I mentioned earlier， both of these paper craft items fit perfectly inside the Burlap Envelope. This would be a great little gift to give to a special someone on any occasion! Just write a heartfelt note inside and add some other little items as well， like candy， photos， or even some jewelry!？
If you are uncomfortable using fresh greenery on your card， you can always die cut flowers to add behind a wax seal， or dry or press some florals before adding them， as well. This way， they will still be stunning but will last much longer!
I hope you have enjoyed this pretty little project today! Making something heartwarming and pretty doesn’；t have to be complicated- sometimes the simplest projects turn out just stunning!
Until next time，Marie Nicole
